Kevin Van Kannel

President

Having spent 18 years working in the office equipment industry for the “large box retailers/finance companies”, I always believed there was a better way to take care of customers. I want our customers to appreciate the creative ways we can apply the latest technology to their office/workflow needs, and see the value of the many flexible programs from their local hometown company.

In building meaningful relationships and creating a buying experience that exceeds customer expectations, I can be a role model for my three kids. I want them to realize that a business can be successful by earning trust and giving back to the community. It’s important for them to understand there are other ways to build a business but none as rewarding as doing it the right way.

On a personal note, I want to take this chance to publicly thank my supportive and beautiful wife, Carolyn. Without her support and understanding, this dream wouldn’t be possible. Thank you to my wonderful kids Grace, Grant, and Anna for all of their support and sacrifices as we embark on this journey together as a family.

Daniel Heimler

Director of Sales

Dan has 16 years experience in sales and sales management in the field of technology, which has allowed him the opportunity to work with individuals in every business environment, including; manufacturing, finance, education, legal, religion, non-profit and service industries. He is a Navy veteran, which lends to his sharp leadership and communication skills. Dan lives in Novi where he enjoys golf, bowling and snowmobiling.

Mike Love

Service Manager

Mike has worked as a service manager for 28 years at University Office Technologies. What Mike enjoys most about his position is traveling to customer accounts, working on the machines, and interacting one-on-one with clients to resolve their concerns. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, grilling with his family, and most of all spending time outside with his grandkids.

Mark Funchion

Director of Technology

Mark brings to UTEC over 15 years experience in information technology. He started off in K-12 education IT before coming to UTEC in 2013. He lives in Temperance with his wife Angie and two children Alivia (12) and Wyatt (9). Mark coaches soccer for his children, and also plays in an adult recreational soccer league in his free time.

Tom Wykowski

Service Manager

Tom joined the UTEC family in 2011 from the acquisition of Metro Imaging where he spent 26 years in the service department. Tom resides in Macomb County with his wife Kathy and daughter Melissa, who is currently attending Western Michigan University. Tom is committed to ensure customer satisfaction for every request received in the service department.

Christine Liphardt

Director of Marketing

Christine joined the UTEC Team in August of 2016 and brings 16 years of sales and marketing experience.  Christine is a native of Novi, Michigan.  She played basketball at Schoolcraft College and then transferred to Oakland University where she played golf for 3 years and graduated with a BA in Marketing. She now lives in Ann Arbor with her husband and two dogs Baily and Sammi.  She is still an avid golfer and has ran in 12 half marathons.

Nate Snyder

Controller

Nate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and is pursuing graduate studies. He specializes in Process Control bringing new innovation and efficiency to business. When not counting beans, Nate spends the majority of his time raising a small tribe of children indigenous to his home. If he is lucky enough to find shelter from the children, Nate enjoys Game of Thrones, The Foo Fighters, biking, a nice smoked meat, and a bubbly Moscato shared with his wife. He also has a professional fireworks license and delights in impressing his friends and family with spectacular displays of color.
